300 lively "please touch" exhibits explain the physics of making gigantic soap bubbles, the technology of satellite weather systems, and more. Dazzling computer graphics simulate orbits and eclipses under the 60-foot dome of the planetarium, and a theater shows films on a massive 50-foot-high projection screen. Desert Botanical Garden

The season runs from November through April and features NASCAR, Indy cars, midgets and sports cars. One-mile paved oval track. NASCAR attracts thousands of visitors to Phoenix every year.

Phoenix Zoo
This is the largest, privately owned and self-supported zoo in the country. Five designated trails wind through this 125-acre zoo, which has replicas of such habitats as an African savanna and a tropical rain forest. Meerkats, warthogs, desert bighorn sheep, and endangered Arabian Oryx are among the unusual sights.

Superstition Mountains
Traveling up the Superstition Highway through Tempe, Mesa and eventually Apache Junction you will come upon the massive Superstition Mountain heaves. Supposedly the mountains are home to the Lost Dutchman Mine, which has still not been found. - Apache Junction

Taliesin West
Visit this remarkable home built by one of the 20th century's greatest architects, Frank Lloyd Wright. The home was built by him and his apprentices from desert materials. This home is located on 600 acres in the rugged Sonoran desert and is a National Historic Landmark.

Tempe Town Lake
You can see this two mile stretch of water as you fly into Sky Harbor airport or from the Loop 202 freeway. With more than 4 miles of shore line, the Tempe Town Lake provides great water activities such as, sailing, rowing, canoeing, pedal boating and dinner boat rides. You'll also find jogging trails, bicycling and in-line skating.
